Ubisoft Going Back to the Drawing Board With Rainbow 6: Patriots
It seems that Ubisoft have finally broken their vow of silence regarding Rainbow 6: Patriots. According to North American president Laurent Detoc, ‘It had to be remade’.
He explains how the game just wasn’t working, so the team had to start fresh, and he feels that the changeover to the new console generation will do it good. Detoc further goes on to say that if they feel that a game isn’t up to the mark, they simply aren’t going to release it until it is:
What’s more, Detoc didn’t refute the possibility that the game might instead come out under a different name, in case the team decides to go in separate direction. If they feel that the game isn’t working with counter-terrorists, they might change everything up.
I feel it’s good that they’re not releasing a shoddy product, but instead waiting and giving it the time and effort that it deserves. All in all, the project is still being incubated, so we can all put our pitchforks down.

There’s an editorial group in Ubisoft, a big group, very influential. If the game is not good enough, they say it’s not good enough […] Rainbow had to be remade. Now they’re going to have the benefit of the new consoles, if and when it comes out. It’s one of those examples where you try, it doesn’t work, you try again. If it doesn’t work, we’re not going to bring it to you.
