Battlefield 4 AMD Mantle Patch Will Now Release in January
AMD had initially promised to release their new Mantle API for Battlefield 4 in December, which would then offer a tremendous performance boost to all players; specially to the ones playing the game on a medium-sized rig.
In an update last night, an AMD representative told Polygon that they have now decided to delay the release of the Battlefield 4 Mantle patch to January 2014.
The reason for the delay is probably due to the fact that EA has had most of their work-force working on squashing bugs in the game. Battlefield 4 was a mess upon its release and two months after, it still is far from a smooth title. Though the last patch fixed most of the issues related to the game crashing randomly. There are still over a dozen problems highlighted by the DICE team that need to be fixed.
Releasing another patch at this time would just make it worse. We saw what the China Rising DLC patch did to the game. So it’s a good decision on AMD’s part to delay the patch.

After much consideration, the decision was made to delay the Mantle patch for Battlefield 4. AMD continues to support DICE on the public introduction of Mantle, and we are tremendously excited about the coming release for Battlefield 4! We are now targeting a January release and will have more information to share in the New Year.
