Skype has never been among applications with particularly nice interface, and this under all platforms. For some time, Microsoft has taken steps in the right direction for mobile applications. Time for a desktop version.

Skype 7.0 for Mac and Windows is a big visual update, but the changes are not only cosmetic. Illogical division between chats, video and voice calls no longer exist, and IM sessions remind interfaces most advanced chat applications, with avatars on both sides and bubbles.

Skype now recognizes the most popular formats such as Word and PDF, and images shared in the chat are displayed without the need for additional clicks. The update is especially important for Mac users who recently used a rather unpleasant version of Skype.
